If you haven't then you owe it to yourself to order up a dozen. Weather it's the original Palomino or new Blackwing, lovers of smooth dark high quality pencils will find these to be the new high water mark in your collection.

So with the news that they will be offering a private label option soon, I'm hoping to see more high quality private label pencils. There used to be a time when companies and organizations wanted to make sure that their name only appeared on the best quality pencils and pens for fear of customers association of a poor quality writing instrument with the overall quality of their product or service. More recently it seems that cost has won out over quality especially with many domestic companies no longer offering it as a service.

(I might also be looking to get a run of Sketchbook Central pencils run depending on the cost...)
What do you think, would your company benefit from these?

Joshua,
Thanks for the mention! I am Andy Welfle — I work for Pencils.com (part of CalCedar), and I'm really excited about this idea. There are still a lot of details to work out, but we hope to have more to announce (or indeed, even order availability!) by late spring or early summer. We have to find the right balance between lead times, minimum order quantities, standard vs. custom options, et cetera.
Needless to say, this will probably not be an option for the standard consumer, unless they *really* want to sink some money into a customized pencil. But still, you're right on target. We think people will appreciate being able to customize a high-quality pencil.
Thanks again for the post; and feel free to get ahold of me if you have any further questions or comments! I'd especially like to hear any ideas people might have about this project. What sort of options would you like to see? What are some ideas you have for creative ways to brand a pencil?

I'd love to be able to get an order of these for my sketchbook business. They're handmade and I don't have the income to justify it currently but including a branded pencil with every order would be pretty sweet.
